Wake Boats vs. Ski Boats

Despite their differences, many boaters tend to lump ski boats and wake boats into the same general category. However, while both models can support watersport activities and reach top speeds, that’s where a majority of their similarities end. If you’re interested in purchasing one of these amazing boat models but aren’t aware of their many differences or unique features, we strongly encourage you to read through our article below before choosing a model off the dealership lot.

Size and Weight

The most noticeable difference between a wake boat and a ski boat is their size. While both models are designed to reach top speeds, wake boats require a lot more girth in order to kick up large waves for surfers. As a result, these models tend to be quite a bit larger and heavier than ski boats. However, this can allow you to transport a few extra passengers and pieces of gear. 

Activities

Wake boats are designed to support a number of different watersport activities, including wake surfing, waterskiing, and even tubing. However, while general waterskiing is supported by a wake boat, more complicated versions of the sport, such as trick, jump, or slalom waterskiing are nearly impossible. If waterskiing is a serious hobby of yours and you’re interested in testing your skills, a ski boat is the better choice.
