Tritoons and You
When you’re hoping to spend some time out on the water, there’s no better way than in your own boat. And if you want a stable, spacious, and comfortable boat, there’s no better type than a tritoon. We here at Shoreline Boat Center want to make sure you get the most out of your time on the water, so we’ve put together some of the biggest benefits of owning a tritoon, below. To learn more, or to see the tritoons we have for sale, contact our store in Green Lake, Wisconsin, today!
What Exactly is a Tritoon?
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the model, a tritoon is similar to a pontoon, which uses two aluminum tubes to form the hull and provide flotation. Tritoons are different, however, in that they utilize three aluminum tubes for the same purpose. This extra tube allows tritoons to handle rougher waters than pontoons could while still providing the benefits.
Stability
Like we mentioned, tritoons are even more stable than pontoons, particularly on slightly rougher water. Where a pontoon can handle calm waters and not much else, a tritoon keeps you stable and secure when things get more choppy. This can be handy if the weather turns unexpectedly, or allows you to keep your plans if it’s windier out than you’d like.
Buoyancy
One of the best things about pontoons is that they rest on the water rather than cut through it, allowing you to easily navigate shallows. Tritoons, with their extra tube, are even better at this than pontoons, sitting even higher on the water. This allows you to go to even shallower water, and provides minimal drag while cruising along. Combined with the seating around the edges, this feature makes tritoons perfect fishing boats. They’re also great for exploring rivers and tributaries that branch off the body of water you launched into.
Storage
If you’ve ever felt like you never have enough storage during maritime outings, a tritoon is the perfect boat for you. Many models feature in-floor lockers built into the center tube, alongside the storage around the edges under the seats. You can even focus on that storage to find the right depth for you, ensuring you can bring skis, auger anchors, and wakeboards more comfortably and safely than you otherwise would. Some models’ central storage is 6-8 feet long!
